The big leaps in optoelectronic technology and
academia have drawn increasing attention from the industry community
which is always in searching of innovative solutions. OGC was created to
pave the way connecting optoelectronic academia and industry as well as
connecting China and the rest of the world.
OGC 2020 will be held concurrently with the 22nd China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE) in Shenzhen. The conference aims to promote interaction and exchange of various disciplines among professionals in academia and industry at home and abroad. In addition, it also serves to turn technologies into industrial applications. It’s expected that 300-500 professionals will attend the conference.
OGC will be an ideal platform for scholars, researchers and professionals to exchange insights and discuss the development of optoelectronics industry. It will be a perfect gathering to learn about new perspectives, technologies and trends which might pushes the boundaries of the technology and eventually creates a broader future for optoelectronics applications.
7 symposia are being arranged in the conference with the topics covering precision optics, optical communications, lasers, infrared applications, and fiber sensors. Welcome the professionals, experts, managements and students from the universities, research institutions, military enterprises, and optoelectronic companies to attend the conference.

This course describes the principles and capabilities of high power rare-earth-doped fiber lasers and amplifiers, with output powers that can exceed a kilowatt. It discusses the fundamentals and current trends of such devices. Fiber technology, pump laser requirements and input coupling will be addressed. This includes Yb-doped fibers at 1.0 - 1.1 μm, Er-doped fibers at 1.5 - 1.6 μm, and Tm-doped fibers at around 2 μm. Operating regimes extending from continuous-wave single-frequency to pulses will be considered. Key equations will be introduced to find limits and identify critical parameters. Important limitations relate to nonlinear and thermal effects, as well as damage, energy storage and, of course, materials. Methods to mitigate limitations in different operating regimes will be discussed. Fiber, laser and amplifier designs for different operating regimes will be described.

Machine Learning (ML) has disrupted a wide range of science and engineering disciplines in recent years. ML applications in optical communications and networking are also gaining more attention, particularly in the areas of nonlinear transmission systems, optical performance monitoring (OPM) and network monitoring and adaptation for flexible and dynamic optical networks with reduced margin and improved throughput. However, the extent to which ML techniques can benefit optical communications and networking is not clear at this point as this is still a relatively new area with an insufficient understanding of the nature of ML concepts. This workshop aims to describe the mathematical foundations of basic ML techniques from communication theory and signal processing perspectives. This will be followed by an overview of ongoing ML research in optical communications and networking with a focus on physical layer issues.

The recent global outbreak of coronavirus has prompted many countries to review their strategies for disease control. This inaugural Optoelectronics Innovation Challenge (OIC) serves as an international platform for the demonstration of new inventions, new technologies and new ideas in the fields of Optoelectronics. Individuals, enterprises and scientific research institutes, especially the students are encouraged to participate in this competition. All CIOE industry participants will be invited to participate and promote global cooperations and to share innovative ideas. The jury will give out a number of special awards on 10 Sept during conference banquet.
W4. Specialty Optical Fibre and Their Applications
Specialty optical fibers are usually understood as optical fibers that have at least one special property and serve as tools in many aspects, e.g. gain media, power delivery, environment sensing, and signal transmissions, etc. Experts both from academia and industry will share their experiences in the development of specialty fibers, unveil huge potential that fibers can bring to us. W5. Progress in Laser Cleaning Technique and Applications
Laser cleaning has been a mature solution to replace traditional chemical and mechanical cleaning methods in many industrial fields in recent years. Serving a fast growing market, the design, control and process have been developed quickly. This workshop focuses on the progress of laser cleaning technique and its applications. We encourage all the CIOE participants who are interested in this fields to attend the workshop for state-of-art techniques and pioneering application information.

All registered speakers will have the opportunity to submit their pre-recorded presentation regardless of geography or travel restrictions but we continue to encourage speakers to participate in-person to allow for greater interaction with attendees. Speakers who provide a video for presentation in their session will still have their paper published. Speakers can also recruit a colleague to act as a proxy to deliver their presentation.
